Stones Pound WavesFlint's return to the playoffs after a two-year absence was a resounding success, as they sent Macon, which had not been since 1999, out quickly and emphatically. Rookie RB Drew A. Blanc got to make his first big playoff contribution, scoring 3 times, including on a 42-yard pass play in the 2nd quarter. But it was juggernaut RB Eddie Pus, who in that last trip to the playoffs ended up MVP of the Hyperbowl, who led the Stone attack. Flint held Macon star WR Waylon Wall to just 5 catches for 58 yards. Macon RB Hugh Bastard rushed for 82 yards, and RB Perry Site caught a TD pass. The Stones led 21-0 before the Waves scored in the 3rd quarter. The win sends Flint to Orlando for an Eastern Conference semifinal, with Manhattan at Boston in the other. |

Jacks Jump DevilsThe defending league champion Monterey Jacks, after their regular season 6-game loosing streak following injury to RB Buster Hymen, just scraped into the playoffs, and had to go to Los Angeles at that. But since the 2nd game after Hymen's return, the Jacks have won 8 straight, including this one, and at least the Devils know Monterey is not ready to give up the championship. Los Angeles dominated the first quarter, missing a field goal but scoring on the second possession. But Monterey took control through the 2nd and 3rd quarters and built a 17-7 lead. After another good L.A. drive made it a game, again, in the 4th, the Jacks got 2 quick TDs on big plays to put it away: a 49-yard run by QB Heller Highwater set up his 15-yard TD pass to WR Ira Fuse, and an L.A. fumble at their own 34-yard line led to a 14-yard Hymen score. After this hurdle, the road for Monterey goes right back to Las Vegas, just two weeks after their 27-21 overtime loss there, and one game short of the Western Conference championship, where Monterey upset Vegas last year. |
